Becoming a Travel Content Writer

When I first started out as a Travel content writer, I spent most of my time focused on popular travel blogs in the industry who seemed to have nailed down all the ways to make money from it. Thing is, most of these travel bloggers are not willing to give away any of their secrets and it made finding out how to become a travel content writer all that more difficult.

Starting out as a Travel content writer in Krakow, Poland

Arriving in Krakow, my main focus was to stop spending money so that I wouldn't need so much in the first place but obviously I needed to find clients in order to survive. Truth is, it was a very miserable few days but by the time a few weeks had passed I was almost feeling hopeful that it could work. Two travel related businesses had taken me on to be their travel content writer and I was absolutely stoked that someone was willing to pay me anything at all.

Moving to Southeast Asia

I decided to step it up a notch a month later and dive deeper into the ocean by boarding a flight to Thailand. During my time here, I also travelled through Cambodia and Vietnam but most of my time was focused on finding clients. It felt desperate to still be earning so little but with time I was starting to realize that this amount was slowly rising and if I continued to be patient it was only a matter of when rather than if I could be a successful travel writer.

Africa and back to Asia

I moved to Africa after a few months to pursue a job as a Tour Leader during this time but kept on with being a travel content writer at the same time. It paid off as I was able to earn better money for a period which would then set me up for the rest of the year. Having saved some cash for a cushion I then returned here to Thailand once more where I am now still living the exciting life of as a nomadic Travel content writer.
